Company recalls red pepper paste after consumer has reaction to undeclared wheat

Pan Asia Food Co. Ltd. is recalling Daesang brand gochujang in Canada because of a consumer complaint about undeclared wheat.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency reports that the recalled product was distributed in Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.

People with sensitivities or allergies to wheat run the risk of serious or life threatening symptoms if they consume this product. There has been one reported incident of a consumer having an adverse reaction to the product.

The implicated product is packaged in plastic tubs. Consumers can use the following information to identify the recalled gochujang, commonly called red pepper paste: Dapsang brand in 500-gram tubs with a UPC number of 8 80 1052 802022 and a date code of 2025.10.29.

Consumers are urged to throw this product away or return it to the place of purchase.
