Company recalls sprouts linked to outbreak

Chetak LLC Group has initiated a recall of its Deep brand frozen sprouts because they have beed determined to be the source of a Salmonella outbreak.

Routine testing by the Food and Drug Administration found the Salmonella Anatum contamination. Whole genome testing showed that the Deep brand frozen sprouts were contaminated with the same strain of Salmonella as has infected the outbreak patients.

There is concern that consumers may still have the recalled frozen sprouts in their home freezers. Consumers can use the following information to identify the recalled sprouts. For photos of the products click here.

The recalled Deep brand frozen sprouted mat (moth) beans and frozen sprouted moong (mung) beans were distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders.
