Mauna Loa recalls Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias because of undeclared almonds and cashews

Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company LLC of Kea’au, HI, is recalling certain 0.6oz and 4oz bags of Mauna Loa Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias because they may contain undeclared almonds and cashews.

These allergens pose a serious or life-threatening risk to individuals with almond or cashew allergies or severe sensitivities.

The recall was initiated after the company’s internal quality control process discovered that a batch, produced by a third-party co-manufacturer, contained the undeclared allergens. The affected products were distributed to retail locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Guam.

As of the posting of this recall, no illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported.

Consumers with almond or cashew allergies are urged not to consume the recalled products and should return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
