The Karma Sauce Company LLC of Rochester, NY, is recalling multiple sizes of HOT ONES brand Los Calientes Hot Sauce, including Verde and Rojo varieties, because of possible foreign objects contamination, specifically plastic.

The recall involves a total of 50,654 units across 5 oz bottles, 1-gallon jugs and 5-gallon buckets.

According to details published by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall was initiated on Feb. 14, 2025, and is ongoing. This recall is classified as a Class II event, indicating a low probability of serious health consequences but a potential for temporary or reversible effects.

The affected hot sauces were distributed to locations in North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

Recalled products:

HOT ONES brand VERDE, Los Calientes Hot Sauce, BY HEATONIST

HOT ONES brand ROJO, Los Calientes Hot Sauce, BY HEATONIST

Consumers and retailers are urged not to use, sell, serve, or distribute the recalled products.

About foreign object concerns

Foreign objects, such as plastic in food products, can pose risks including choking, mouth or throat injury, or gastrointestinal discomfort if ingested. While the Class II classification suggests any health effects would likely be minor and temporary, consumers experiencing symptoms such as irritation, pain, or digestive issues after consuming these hot sauces should seek medical attention promptly.
