Allergic reaction to peanuts prompts recall of almond butter cups in Canada

Eatlove is recalling their brand of Organic Almond Butter Cup because it may contain peanut which is not declared on the label.

According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), this recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. As of the posting of this recall, there has been one reported reaction associated with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product was distributed nationally and online in Canada.

Food allergic reactions vary in severity from mild symptoms involving hives and lip swelling to severe, life-threatening symptoms, often called anaphylaxis, that may involve fatal respiratory problems and shock. While promising prevention and therapeutic strategies are being developed, food allergies currently cannot be cured. Early recognition and learning how to manage food allergies, including which foods to avoid, are important measures to prevent serious health consequences.
